Now that eTextbooks are around, it’s become clear that change has arrived. Textbooks don’t have to be the gigantic masses of paper weighing down your backpack anymore. You can now have access to literally hundreds of dense textbooks and have them all stored safely away — on your device, I should add.

It would have been great if each chapter began visually consistently . This doesn't take anything away from the content, but as a reader, it would have been more pleasing to the eye. Minor formatting issues throughout including text size, page breaks, and paragraphs repeated verbatim in multiple chapters where topics overlap. The book does a great job of writing in terms appropriate for a college aged audience.
It saved much time in creating the class as I did not have to find each area individually and create the units. The book is very comprehensive and would be  a great resource for traditional college students attending a university for the first time. There is no index or a glossary which would be an advantageous addition to the text.

The website shows that over 500,000 ebooks will be available for free too. Why should college students strive to obtain the required textbooks? How essential are these tools to the collegiate population?
You can buy them outright or try to save more by bidding in an online auction. Personally, I  am in favor of open textbooks or free online textbooks. Finally, if you’re buying or renting books online, look for free shipping or you could end up eating whatever savings you thought you were getting. Whether renting or purchasing a textbook, make sure you have the edition specified on your professor’s syllabus. Publishers frequently update textbooks and the wrong version can create headaches later on. “With all of the pricing policies that we’ve implemented, the last academic year students saved upwards of $2 million in course materials,” says Turco.

It was easy to engage in with short chapters that were very focused and enlightening. There were not many graphics so the students were not overwhelmed by them. The graphics were applicable to the subject and appropriately placed. The format of the text is consistently divided into well defined parts of the subject. There are some self-referential parts but they are clear and not frequent. This modularity should allow the student to stop and start again with little confusion about where they left off and what the current topic is.
That represents a 10% decline in print textbook preference since 2015, when 72% of students reported favoring print textbooks, but it doesn't mean students are embracing eTextbooks. It’s a trend that Barnes & Noble at BU general manager Steve Turco has witnessed firsthand. This fall, 85 percent of the store’s textbooks can be rented and 28 percent purchased digitally, offering big savings.
