Digital Arts explores the ways digital and new media technologies are being used to transform cultural production, distribution and reception in the visual and performing arts, machine vision and popular culture. The immersive experience stems from a 25m, 8k resolution, interactive digital canvas. Curated to the human rhythm, the canvas expresses Sydney’s light and movement through the digital artworks of local and international artists, animators and cinematographers. At the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Deep Field workshop participants will visit the Yiribana Gallery to look closely at works depicting plants from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection. Medina says her vision grew out of a childhood fascination with interactive museums like the Powerhouse. “After working in production and travelling, I realised there was a gap for these types of immersive, tactile experiences locally.
